Dream Update: Week 14

April 16:
I was hanging out with Peter Pan and the lost boys. We set a bull loose to go chase the bad guys and I hid in the bull's stall so he couldn't get me.

Then I was either a the mom or a sibling in this family with five kids. We were talking about having another. Each kid had a small wooden chest which contained their dinner plate and utensils. We had a bunch of dogs as well. There were two bigger ones (a great Dane and a Polish sheep dog) who both wore costumes. The sheep dog was Cookie Monster and the Great Dane was a super hero. Then it was late at night and Zack shot off spinning bottle rockets to mark a path of some kind (apparently).

I then infiltrated a cult by dressing up in their robes. I used the reflections in building's windows to see around corners and sneak around without getting caught. There was a battle, and I found out that an old friend of mine was in the cult. Lots of people were injured. I ended up in jail but I had a bowl of soup and befriended people by sharing it with them.

Then I went to a school spelling bee in a large auditorium. They checked all bags at door for guns and weapons.

April 17:
I built a D&D character who could use a bonus action to temporarily become another class, including wizard (this was especially significant in the dream for some reason).

A septic sucker guy came to our apartment and cleared septic system.

My high school's basketball team won some awards. I remember there being a newspaper reporter and my Spanish teacher Mrs. Werner.

April 18:
Zack and I found our "perfect house" - a blue house in Mound. The master bedroom was upstairs where the roof became slanted. Zack expressed concern about showering in the master bathroom with the slanty roof, but I pointed out that the shower head was on the higher side of the slant. There was a random pink toilet right by the bed.

The house had two kitchens - one upstairs with three separate ovens and stove tops, and one downstairs, which was the larger one and also had three ovens. The yard was a little small because two next door neighbors back yards connected behind ours, cutting off the back of our yard.

Then I was talking to this boy who said, "I don't think no means no. I think it means yes." So I got mad at him, lectured him, and pinned him to the ground where I snapped his arm out of joint before turning him over to the queen for sentencing.

Then I was watching ice skating on TV with my mom. She surprised me with a box full of different Neutrogena facial soaps, all in different shades of tan.

There was this boy who asked this girl to take his photo. He handed her a fake phone and while she was distracted, he grabbed her puppy's leash out of her hands and ran away with the dog. I chased him down and eventually caught him. He claimed it was a social experiment and asked if I would've chased him if her were black. I told him stealing a puppy is an unforgivable crime no matter what color you are. Then I said if he was some huge guy, I might not have chased him, for my own safety.

April 19:
I sneaked into NBC's TV studio and got into their guest hosting area. I hung out there eating their food and acting like I belonged for the longest time. There was a blind girl who danced on one of their TV shows. She didn't like most strangers, but she liked me. Then they had another guest (some Latina rocker chick and her band) arrive. The rocker chick was rude and demanded I moved my stuff for her band. I refused. An NBC guy tried to smooth the situation over, but I told him no and that if she asked nicely I'd gladly move my things for her band. We had a bit of a stand off, but eventually she relented. Then I became friends with her and her band.

Matt D and I walked together and talked about how he had a crush on Ronne still but she was mad at him (not sure what about). Some guys walked on cliffs high above our path and knocked sand and rocks down toward us. Eventually what was a small annoyance started a sand avalanche. The blind girl from the TV studio ran to me when the avalanche started.

I told PJ (high school teacher) that I thought Bible classes should be Pass/Fail rather than grades. I expected him to argue but he agreed.

April 20:
Adam was showing me around Northwestern on my first day at my new job. He brought me outside where there was this huge field of sunflowers and dried up cornstalks. He said they were looking for someone to tend the field and it was a 6-figure salary. We got Jenna and had her cover her eyes and surprised her with the field.

I got confused about where I needed to be because my trainer's face and clothing kept changing. So confusing.

There was a large, smelly dead animal.

April 21: I was walking through Walmart with a family from the hills of Tennessee. There was a dad with cowboy hat and all his kids – there were like a million of them and they were all very out of touch with social norms. As we walked through the store, they got bored and started a family sing along of some hymns. I was picking up pennies off the floor, some were real and some were fake. With my pennies I bought a bunch of trinkets – gum and cheap makeup mostly. Then I let the siblings choose something from the stash. They were hesitant at first (the girls wore no make up) but eventually picked things. One sister chose mascara and I had to help her put it on. It was so cheap it was all cakey and crusty and bad.

Then later the family gathered around a fire (in a hotel room, I guess...odd) and told stories. I was encouraged to join them but declined. They had a Native American guy who'd been with us who spoke very little English. He tried to tell a story but it was hard to understand. I caught enough to understand that he was trying to propose to me but no one else got it so I didn't say anything.

I was at Jenna's wedding and her mom told me she'd brought a jacket with three layers that could unzip layers based on the weather. In the dream, she wore just the lime green windbreaker vest part. Pre-wedding we all ate pumpkin pie. I was given a little puppy (black and white) to carry down the aisle with me. Emilee attended the wedding and wore a gold dress with white overlay. Dave got a gray shawl with poof balls on it for her to try. We told him shawls were "out", but he asked her to try anyway. Once she had it on, he agreed with us.

April 22:
Dreamed I was at my Uncle Todd's house. He had a cow chained in a pen with a bull. I accidentally let the cow go and couldn't figure out how to get her chained back up.

Then I dreamed I was fighting a bunch of creatures in a house (wraiths, alligators, Minotaur skeletons and others). I was outnumbered and couldn't win so had to run.

I dreamed the song "If You See Kay" (and woke up with it in my head).

I dreamed that Joel and Zack got all excited about liking the same show growing up (that old 90s show "Dinosaurs"). I said I liked it too and Joel started grilling me about why. I answered, but he kept prying. He kept notes in red crayon. He added some of his own to the list about why HE liked the show, like he was trying to prove to me that this show was clearly awesome.

Dream Update: Week 13

April 9:
Tyler was at our old house driving across the road and he inadvertently caused a car accident. The guy got out of his car and was super pissed. The other guy involved in the accident had a "not nonfatal" injury, though I couldn't see any injury. I hugged Tyler and was glad he was okay at least.

Then my nephew Charlie (2 and a half) and I were saying goodbye to each other after Easter dinner. He sang-songed "Byyyeee Heidi!" and I sang back, "Byyyeee Charlieee!" He replied again with, "Byeee Heidi!" and once more I returned "Byyeee Charlie!" Then he became all indignant because, "You already said goodbye!"

I spent a lot of time after that in a Manor where someone was captured (me? But I was in both places soo...) . Time was running out to save prisoner-me. The group I was with couldn't figure out how to get to prisoner-me but rushed around anyway. We ended up in this Korean woman's apartment and she got all upset at us.

We ran out to Zack's car in the parking lot, but he insisted that this random red car was his, rather than his green one that I was running toward. I debated with him for a minute, but eventually gave in and went to climb in the red car. I pulled the handle and it broke off so that the door wouldn't latch closed again. After some finagling, I got the door to close and we took off (still trying to save prisoner-me, I guess). But then on the way, Zack said he had to stop for an audition and asked me to really fix the door while he was in there. We parked by this small building and he ran inside.

In the parking lot, I met up with my cousin Jamie and her kids. One of them was very small--as in, like four inches tall--and on a leash. Jamie gave me the leash to hold onto for a minute and the child ran toward a puddle. I knew she could drown even in a small puddle, so I tightened the leash to keep her back. She fell and was all muddy, but otherwise unharmed. Then I talked with Mercedez (my other cousin's daughter) who was skipping the 7th grade and going right into 8th. She told me that Jamie had told her about cutting and not to do it, and I agreed. I gave a heartfelt speech about how she is loved and can always go to those who love her.

Then I was hanging out with Charissa R and we started trying on clothes together from the racks and racks of clothes she had at her house. As I looked through them, I found this very TALL medieval dress. Aaron S walked in and made fun of the dress, and I challenged back, "Haven't you ever heard of RenFest?" (Because bringing up the Renaissance Festival is a great way to get people to stop teasing you...) In this case, though, it worked, because he just said, "Yes." and walked away.

I found a box of old Valentine's cards and picked the little sticker sheets out of them to send to Natalie and Mason. There were Star Wars stickers and heart stickers.

April 10:
I was kidnapped along with some other women and held captive. One of the capture women was pregnant and I helped the doula (who also happened to be in the group) deliver the baby. We were beaten regularly in order to "teach us certain lessons"--they had "lessons" bottled and would dump bottle over us before the beatings. I tried to escape once but was caught. The guard who caught me brought me to the beater who was in the basement of this old house that they'd taken over as their headquarters. He was sitting at this giant dining room table eating a fine meal and drinking a glass of wine. He wiped his mouth with a cloth napkin before looking at me tiredly. "You're really going to make me do this now?" he asked me. I don't remember anything after that.

Then I was trying to get my license renewed and went to this tiny DMV where I thought I could avoid long lines, but I didn't have the right paperwork. People from work (Joe B from old work and Jim J from new work) were there. The DMV offered me a bunch of food (hamburger meat and milk in small juice box like containers.). I loaded up a few garbage bags full of it, and Zack and I carried the bags out to car. Zack's bag broke in the parking lot and hamburger meat exploded everywhere.

I ran two marathons, but in one I got lost and ended up at the finish too early so I had to run back to try to find where I turned wrong. The whole marathon was in this large, maze-like building and people from DGT were there.

Afterwards, I was biking home to Duluth from the races and was exhausted. I had a messenger bag carrying letters from a Filipino girl to Nicole about how proud she was of her for having babies. It was really important that I deliver the letters.

I couldn't get up the hill by 21st Ave East in Duluth because I was too tired, so I went west and planned to go up by Piedmont. As I was waiting to cross the street on my way up, all these black people with signs started gathering and protesting. One had a sign that said "f*** whites" (sorry, that's what it said!) and the atmosphere was becoming out of control very quickly. When light changed I crossed street to see one guy beating another with a crowbar so intensely that bits of the guys skull and brain went flying everywhere. I tried to bike away, but was cornered by a few younger boys (two white, one black) who dumped Mountain Dew on me but otherwise left me unharmed. As they walked away laughing, I caught up to them and gave an impassioned speech (I cried) about how, yes, there is injustice in the world, but combating it in a negative way only breeds continued hatred and prejudice.

April 11:
I was in Mrs. Jara's first grade classroom, but I was in a higher grade. The teacher asked who would play "get on the wagon" and everyone except me raised hands. I said if everyone else wanted to then I would too. I have no idea what the game was, except for the fact that I "got on the wagon" and played the game just because everyone else wanted to.

Later, I dreamed that two people got turned into grinch-like trolls with green bodies and yellow eyes. One sought my help in not getting caught in her new troll-like state. She asked if it was a good idea to clone her nanny, so one could know she was a troll and one wouldn't. I said no because it would be too confusing and shed likely slip up at some point.

April 12:
My mom and I were going through attic things behind the garage at Papa Tony's old house. I found a porcelain box with lid that was stamped as being made in "pre-Japan." Then I went hiking with my great aunt and uncle Lois and Wes and their short-tailed hunting dogs. It was raining.

April 13:
Zack was driving 45 in a 30 and got a speeding ticket. As we pulled away he started going even faster to "make up for lost time."

I was sitting in my dad's (parked) truck, and this woman and her two kids drove up between me and this shed. She had a horse trailer and was a total pro at backing it up into the spot. She unhitched, did some stuff, then rehitched. But when she went to pull away, her horse trailer got caught on edge of shed. To help, I got out of truck and put weight on opposite side of trailer to tip it away from shed and give it the clearance it needed to get out. When it came free, she was able to pull away but it crashed into side of dad's truck and left a huge dent and scratch. The woman blamed me for the whole thing.

I was at my high school's camp at this horse ranch place. There were carnival rides of this giant Indian girl and giant horse that you could ride at the camp. I went off to explore on my own because there were too many people, and I got left out of ice cream. I found a path that went up this big hill and headed toward it. Lauren told me were not supposed to wander, but Alyssa came up and said, "She can't help it. It's her nature." So I went up the path, but then it went right by this cabin and there was a scary wolf-dog there who growled and snarled at me. Alyssa was with me suddenly and I was like, "Hey, you work with wild dogs. You got this." So I crept back down the hill. The dog followed her down though and found me and was growling at me. I asked Alyssa what I should do, but she didn't know. Then the dog became friendly and let me pet him.

Then I dreamed that I was an ambassador from the Land of Warmth trying to make peace with the Land of Cold. I swam in their ice water lakes with them and all the while dreamed of tropical waters of home.

I dreamed I was exploring the Schlottman's house and old bedrooms of the kids. I went to Ben's childhood room (which was in the basement of this house). Apparently, he had died as a child in a car accident and his bedroom had been left completely alone since then. It was decorated with guitars filled with guns and framed Bible verses.

April 14:
I dreamed that I friended Matt Mercer and Felicia Day on Facebook. A short while later, I got a message from Matt asking why I'd friend both of them a day after they made their accounts.

I was trying to leave my apartment to get to work and as I was driving away, I realized I wasn't wearing pants. I went back only to realize that I was, in fact, wearing pants. Tyler decided to come into work with me then, so I was waiting for him. It was 9:06 when we left and I was supposed to be at work at 9 and had a meeting at 9:30 (and I did, in fact, have a real meeting at 9:30 on this morning!). Staying in a nearby room were my parents and also a vacant room we were fixing up. We had left a bunch of my dad's tools there. I told Tyler we'd just have to let dad know to get them later because I was late. Then I couldn't find the car. Then I couldn't figure out how to get to work.

Then I dreamed something about Giants. Because why not?

April 15:

I was describing to someone how we would recognize who we were looking for. I said they'd be "ancient-looking fight snails of justice."

I was in this crawl space in the attic (a place I've been in dreams before) to sneak around this evil lady. But crawl space is always claustrophobic and terrifying so it wasn't a great alternative to the evil lady.

Then I was going through a food line getting breakfast at home for "disturbed children." I grabbed plate only to realize I didn't have a tray, so grabbed one and a boy in line told me I'd grabbed a "boy tray." They all looked the same to me though. I accidentally missed half the food by by-passing one of the sections, but I couldn't go back so just had some bananas and other fruit in a cup.

Then I was riding in very old pick up with my uncle Todd. We drove to this weigh-station-esque place with a machine that lifts your car up by the middle and tells you how much oil you have left. All the warning lights in the dash were on.

Dream Update: Week 12

April 2:
I was living in this house in Duluth in the woods near a lake. It was quite remote and there were these men who were going all over the town looking for people who had shutters installed incorrectly on their homes. To be safe, most people just removed their shutters when they knew that the shutter-men were out looking. Knowing this, the men also searched for any semi-solid structure without a permit they found in the woods and would tear it down. I was devastated to learn this because of all the forts Tyler and I had built back in the woods.

We were hanging out in the garage of this house, listening the wind and for the shutter-men to arrive when my sister Nicole and her husband Matt showed up in the garage with a "big surprise" for me that they were super excited about. They dragged in two giant metal pickles. They opened them up and inside of each was a decorative fishing net. Apparently they'd found them at a rummage sale. Who would get rid of such treasures?!

My friend Lauren then appeared in the garage with us, chattering about how nervous she was for her upcoming quiz bowl tournament.

Then I was spending the night somewhere with friends Sam and Erin. In the morning we were getting ready to go and had to share one bathroom and one hairbrush. After Sam was done, I went in and started brushing my hair. Erin showed up very upset because it was her turn and I had cut in the line. I apologized and let her have the brush and bathroom thinking that was the end of that. But later after we were all ready she was still acting angry. I asked why (thinking she and Sam had a disagreement I didn't know about) but she told me it was about the hairbrush thing. I was so annoyed and reminded why I prefer hanging out with guys most of the time.

April 3:

I had to move to Texas for work where I lived with three old people on their deathbeds. I remember very distinctly the smell of nursing home food (meat loaf and mashed potatoes on those ancient plastic trays with peaches). The three elderly people put a plastic garbage bag over the AC so it didn't blow so hard because they got too cold. They kept a display in the basement with cockroaches in it.

Then I dreamed about being on seashore. There were alligators and I found clams for my sister Tawnya who at them raw from their shells (I can see this happening in real life).

Finally, I was at this inner city school where the students were trying to be famous. News crews were always showing up to film them.

April 4:
I was living at the King's house. My mom was leaving, and I ran outside crying to stop her. She told me he had to leave, I said no, we could work it out. All of a sudden from the woods came a baby moose. I heard calls of a bigger moose and I told my mom to run. She didn't at first but then she saw the mom and dad moose charging out of the trees towards her. My car was parked nearby and had the window down. We dashed to the car and climbed in the window to get away, but the baby moose scrambled into the car after us. The parent moose charged at the car and we held notebooks and stuff over the open window to keep him out (because THAT'S going to be effective). I grabbed my purse with one hand and scrambled to find my spare key in there. Just then, one of the adult moose got in the window. We pushed him to the back of the car with baby. I managed to get the car started so we drove to the King's extra land just down the road to release them  moose there.

There was a wildlife center on the land where people could take their horses to wade in this little lake for a couple dollars. HOWEVER, if the horse rolled in the water it was $200 because of the dirt and because "There's no way to know how many ostrich eggs might be affected."

My mom and I tried to figure out best way to get angry moose out of the car and stay safe ourselves. I'm not sure we ever solved the problem because next thing I remember was dreaming that my brother Tyler and I were riding to/from school, and he kept running all the stop signs. I told him if he kept doing so I wouldn't ride with him any more.

I dreamed I was back at my high school playing tabletop games. The guy I was hanging out with told me he was going to teach me new game. He said to get 6d6, and I did, but the numbers on them were all wrong. Then he said to get a d13 and I didn't have that. I ended up unable to play.

April 5:

I dreamed that a bunch of us (Zack, Paul, Matt and others) were hanging out in Duluth at Canal Park. We were walking along when all of a sudden this boat comes driving up on Lake Superior right onto the sidewalk where it morphed into a car. The car stopped beside us and we realized it was Adam driving. Someone said, "Of course Adam has a mariner vehicle."

I took my kayak out on the Lake, but it was super stormy and I capsized. I was dragged down into the dark water by the kayak. When I freed myself, I had to figure out which way was up. When I surfaced, I was being pulled out to sea. I kicked off my dress and shoes and swam to shore where I stole a fuzzy plaid print blanket to wrap up in.

Then I was trying to get ready for church with my whole family. I finally got dressed only I realize that I hadn't done my hair or makeup. Then I couldn't find shoes to wear. My mom and sisters shoes were too big (true story) but eventually I found something and managed to make it out the door.

April 6:
I was going to fly on a plane which was piloted by Kay, the Business Analyst from work. Our flight started with the plane being pulled over pits and hills by an old 4-wheeler. Then we had a terrifying take off from a new runway that was far too short. Jenna, who was flying with me, talked about how she didn't need a jacket because she went to Europe without one once, so why would she need one now?

The landing of this flight was equally scary, but eventually we settled in Georgia beside a guy in mask selling ghost guns. I got into an argument with another passenger about whether or not it was illegal to remove the serial number from a gun and/or replace with a fake one. He insisted it was fine. I insisted he was dumb.

I got off the plan with Zack, Hunter, Carter and my grandma Linda. We took really close up photos of a caterpillar that was friends with a panther. Linda didn't want to go see her sick mom, but that was why we came so I convinced her to go.

Then I was at a mixed holiday celebration that was sort of Christmas, New Years, and Halloween all rolled into one. I was dressed as Trinity from The Matrix. There were lots of people in scary costumes, many of whom helped throw shirts off a Santa float into audience.

April 7:

I was at this hotel when my brother's friend Victor knocks on door. He said that people had sneaked through the window and through his room in the middle of the night. He asked if he and his baby could stay in my room. I then hung out with all my friends who have new babies or are pregnant (Kate, Darin, Sami, Victor, Liz, etc).

Then I was in Canal Park in Duluth (I never realized how many dreams I have that are set in this location!) and there was a Jack Sparrow impersonator was there. I took photos with him and took his sword and pretended to stab him with it. After, he went to his car and changed to normal clothes and got all these paints and canvasses and set up to paint for money instead of Jack Sparrowing for money.

I was driving with my dad in his truck in a campground when we came across a little girl on a trike who was lost. We picked her up and offered to drive her back to her campsite, but she forgot to tell us where to drop her. We drove just past her road, so we stopped and got her out and sent her on her trike back all by herself.

April 8:

I had a to do list, but I only remember the first item:
1. Butcher pigs (kill them if you have to)

Zack was telling me all about Dungeons and Dragons stuff he was reading and how bad stuff sometimes just happens, but other times the adventure is poorly written and it's not the players fault if their character dies.

My cousin Jamie got a house in the Cities was that really nice inside (jacuzzi, big windows) but had no yard and was at the intersection of two busy streets. My sister Nicole called to tell my mom and I about it. My niece Natalie and nephew Mason were riding bikes and Marek, other nephew and the youngest, followed them but was crying while riding and eating ice cream because the ice cream was too cold.

I dreamed I found a bunch of jeans in my underwear drawer.

Dream Update: Week 11

March 25:
My sister Tawnya had a newborn baby girl. I was sitting on a bed with her and went to get up. When I did, she rolled off the edge of the bed. Both Tawnya and I tried to catch her but missed and she fell on her face.

Later, my friend Alyssa and I went out riding horses. Mine was brown and white. After a bit, we each grabbed another horse by the reigns and rode like that. I was nervous I was doing it wrong but she kept saying, "You're doing great. You're a natural!"

We got back to the ranch and let the horses go. A while later, I went outside to visit mine but he was nowhere in sight. I clicked for him, and he came running to me. I gave him a big hug and buried my face in his warm, wonderful neck.

My sister-in-law, Emilee posted a something on Facebook about seeing the world and learning about others. It was very inclusive. A friend, David P, told her he was happy to see her embracing life and moving out of the "homeschool bubble."

There was an ancient video game I tried to play - I believe at an arcade, though I don't recall the details. Then I was at a swimming pool at a hotel. The lifeguards asked if I could surf, and I said "Yes. By which I mean I've never done it before, but I might be able to figure it out."

March 26:
It was winter and I was supposed to give my co-worker Preethi a ride to the company party. As I got to the sidewalk where she was waiting, I tried to stop to get her but car wouldn't stop. I ended up getting it to stop much further ahead in the street. She ran to catch up and was so kind about the whole thing (very true to how she'd be in reality, I think). Then I forgot her at the party, leaving without letting her know, and I just hoped that someone else would give her a ride back.

Then I was in jungle on some sort of reality TV show. There were these spitting plants that would open up to reveal four leaves which spit spirally needles out at you. We contestants were armed with straight needles to throw at them to deactivate their leaves. We killed a snake and ate it. It tasted like ashes. As part of the show, we were all taken to Target where we were told we could buy five items before returning to the jungle. I remember that my team got toilet paper and two little bungee things that we could bounce things off of.

Then I dreamed that I was at the taping of The Voice, sitting right by a performer who did a mash up of some country song and "Devil Went Down to Georgia." He played a violin with no pegs, just strings connected to nothing. So he'd pick up each string and pull it taut to play on it, sliding his hand up and down the string to shorten or lengthen it as needed. It was super cool sounding, but he messed up a lot by skipping words and missing violin solo areas. I tried to comfort him at the end and he turned into a baby with down syndrome. I carried him back to his spot in the audience to watch the rest of the show and told him to be proud. I said "You made it, what, six rounds?" And he said "Four!" and started crying even harder. Whoops.

March 27:
I was trying to get ready for school with all my siblings. They were late. Then I couldn't get dressed to save my life, and ended up wearing every tank top I own layered on top of each other. I realized this was silly, so I picked two to layer, but then the straps were too long. I adjusted them only to realize that shorts and tank top in the winter in Duluth was a bad idea, so I had to change. By this point, my family were all in car waiting for me. There were cats outside. I got my sister Tawnya a gift.

Finally I made it to school where we were taking standardized tests. We had to write an essay as part of the test, but when time was up, I couldn't find mine to leave with my test at the end. It was Valentine's Day and I got a card from someone that had an underwear joke in it. People who didn't get one were jealous. My friends from high school, Barbara, Lauren, Anna, Alyssa and I went out to eat with our parents. Most of our parents paid for our meals, but Barbara had to ask if Lauren's grandparents would pay for hers because she wasn't a "rich Christian." It was quite awkward.

March 28:
There was a large glass wall in the middle of this hallway with a small space at the top between the top of the wall and the ceiling. My friends were on one side of wall and I was on the other. The hall way on their side started flooding til it all came pouring out over the top of the wall. I couldn't do anything but stand there and watch them drown.

March 29:
I was helping Matt, a friend from high school, clean his dorm room. Will (another friend) joked threateningly, "If you have another purple shirt..." Which was funny because Matt had just bought one. Matt made all this weird music (for lack of a better word) that was a compilation of sounds more than anything. He was quite proud of it.

We were camping and did this thing where you strap into harnesses on the edge of this break-away cliff. When the cliff falls, you dangle over this huge drop. It was absolutely gorgeous and surprisingly did not end with me falling to my death.

Tawnya and I were boarding this flight together, but they realized they were missing a passenger who they couldn't leave without. They sent Tawnya and I put to find passenger, and plane left without us. We watched a live hockey game in the airport from a balcony.

March 30:
I was at my high school where one of the teachers, PJ, was teaching a class. I went to bathroom and realized I had no makeup on. I tried to curl and darken my eyelashes with water. When I returned to the classroom, no one was there except one girl writing sentences. I asked where everyone was and she said, "Practicing clapping."

"What?" I asked.

"I was bad because I'm tied and hungry," she replied, "so I have to write sentences while they to have fun."

"Okay," I said, "but where are they?"

"I don't know."

Just then, the rest of the class returned along with PJ. Everyone looked high and crazy. Brandon, my co-worker, was there. PJ asked what they learned. Anna said she learned that it's easy to say "no" before you know someone, but when you have a foundation of trust it becomes harder to say no.

Later my dad and I were on an adventure in caves and had to squeeze between narrow rocks to get through. We were camping with a bunch of other girls and when we returned to camp, they said sewer tank was full, so I said to use public restrooms and showers.

High-school-friend Lauren and I considered jumping off a set of stairs at a high point, but instead moved to lower point and jumped down from there. This super tall guy made fun of us for jumping from so low, so I went on a tirade about how his height and subsequent shock absorbing power made his high jumps way easier. I lectured him on math, physics, and being a jerk, and at the end he relented that I was right.

March 31:
I was at office in the back corner by Brandon's desk. Only this was no normal office, this was a D&D office. All the "lower levels" (not management) were players fighting, and the higher levels would place bets on who would win an who would die. The higher levels were intimidating and conniving, trying to buff the people they'd bet on unfairly. Zack was there too. All the new hires were very nervous and had no clue what they were doing. I ended up matched against a great fighter and lost one of my battles. At the end of the day, they chopped one of the people who had lost a battle in half, but not me since I had a pretty good track record. Somehow I did end up unconscious, and they brought me out into the woods to bury me. I tried to keep it a secret that I was actually conscious so I could run away once they left me.

There was a parade, and all these kids in costumes and crazy cars were coming by. Then I walked through place filled with bats and it was terrifying. They were everywhere and fluttery and rat-like and horrible. Dreamed that PJ wore a scarf/shawl with Narnia images on it, and it was very feminine. I whispered as much to my parents who were watching as well and they loudly agreed, "Why yes Heidi! That Narnia cloak IS rather feminine, isn't it?!"

April 1:
I was taking a college Bible class taught by the fantasy author Brandon Sanderson. I kept forgetting I had the class until I showed up at it each week. I showed up one day real nervous it was my day to present a project because I'd done nothing whatsoever, but it wasn't (whew). The class was held at outside at the gas station on Woodland Ave in Duluth. I sat on sidewalk by Matt (from high school). On our break, we went into the gas station, which was super rundown inside. They had giant sourdough sandwiches (like bigger than my head). Barbara said she thought the bread was under-cooked and asked if she could return it if so. The clerk said no, but Barbara bought the sandwich anyway. My friend Alyssa and her mom were there as well.

I bought something and for change girl gave me two Canadian "20 pieces" of different sizes. I told her, and she gave me a glass with a figurine of a moose in the bottom of it to compensate. She also told me I could come back the next day for a complimentary fish dinner, which I knew I wouldn't like but thought Zack would.

Later my grandpa Marvin came to a place where friends and I were all hanging out. He was limping. I went to give a hug, and he said "Careful for the burn." I looked down and his whole foot was all swelled up and white with red bumps and broken skin in places. It was pretty gnarly.

Dream Update: Week 10

March 18:
I was attending a play at Northwestern that my brother Tyler and his friends were performing (specifically I remember Tyler, Jericho and Mitch being in the play). Jericho was singing and dancing like a pop star, and all the girls were going crazy. He jumped off stage during the performance and walked toward the audience. Everyone assumed he was going to the screaming fan girls, but instead he grabbed his grandma and brought her up on stage and danced with her (yes, it was adorable).

Later Tyler, playing Darth Vader, came down aisle (now at my old church rather than Northwestern). He dropped two swords in our aisle and used the "force" to get them back. This was actually a pre-planned stunt where the members of the audience nearest the swords threw them back to him.

I was supposed to be one such member, but I refused to give the sword up, fighting against the forces of evil. The play itself was about adoption and Darth Vader was not giving someone their social security card so they couldn't complete the adoption. Oh, the sinister plots of sci-fi villains!

I ended up jumping into the play, now being chased by Darth. I grabbed the envelope that contained the social security card and another envelope that was full of junk mail disguised to look like gift cards. I tricked Darth with my sleight of hand, pulling the social social security card out of it's envelope and slipping it in with the junk mail instead. When Darth cornered me, I made him think I was giving up the social security card to him. While he took the envelope in triumph, I ran off stage and gave gift cards to my mom and dad in the audience. Thinking this was the end of the play, the audience remained silent, confused and disappointed at me. I peeked my head back into the auditorium to tell my dad to open the envelope. He did and found social security card among the fake gift cards. He held card up in triumph and the audience cheered. I wish I could say that at this point Darth Vader cried out, "Noooooo!" but that didn't happen.

Later, I dreamed that I wanted to became a police officer, but my sister Tawnya recommended against it because it was too dangerous.

March 19:
There were zombies in the rivers. That's all I remember.

Then, I was the misfit girl going to a volleyball camp where all the popular girls were mean to me. I showed up to practice and they had all planned to dress the same without letting me know (black workout pants, maroon shirts) and there I was in very brightly colored clothing, standing out and looking silly. They later got in trouble with coach for dressing too scandalously though, so there! Ha!

I was on a road trip, riding in the backseat and trying to write short paragraph about how my parents met, got married and had four kids, and that was enough for them. But somehow I just couldn't make the words come out right.

Someone was trying to summarize the book Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers and they kept saying it was based off the prophet Jeremiah, which is wrong and it was bugging me. (It's based on Hosea, if you were curious).

I was part of this reality show where we made people's wildest dreams come true. The guest for the show was this old woman whose dream was starring in the music video of Total Eclipse of the Heart. She loved it. There was a ginormous cake at the end to celebrate as we watched the premier of her music video.

March 20:
I was Japanese (somehow that's very important). Zack and I were at this hotel and then saw there was a GIANT bug under the covers of the bed. We freaked out, but when we pulled the covers back, we realized that the bug wasn't alive so we flipped it onto the floor. Once we got it on the floor, it turned into a plastic toy. I put it in the closet under a laundry basket to keep it from escaping...you know, like a sane person.

I dreamed something about packing for camping with my family, my grandpa driving us places very unsafely, and there were alarms going off at one point but I don't remember why.

March 21:

Tyler was driving my car on top of a river somehow.

I was loading the dishwasher in some random house with my dad. Out of nowhere comes this giant leggy, flying bug. I said how I hated them and dad agreed. We trapped it inside dishwasher and turned it on. "That'll kill it," I said.

Later, my friend Anna and I were involved in drug busting this wealthy woman who had giant paintings in her office. Like paintings that were bigger than cars. She'd had her office ceiling raised to accommodate them.

March 22:
I was riding in limo with a bunch of friends going to pick up a dining room table. I have no idea how we thought we were going to fit it in the limo.

I was playing a game with friends. My partner and I were trying to find a five letter word for "quil" (yes, one l and yes, I now realize that quill would fit the bill) BUT our hint was a dog in a police uniform upside down in space. Any guesses? Also, we had different character cards and abilities. Each character card had a partner card that they would work well in tandem with.

March 23:
I dreamed that my friend Anna was pregnant, and I got to be there when she told bunch of our friends (including Sam C from elementary school). We all got in my car and were driving on Howard Gnesen Rd on Duluth. Suddenly, this guy walks out into the road right in front of us and starts setting up construction cones to block off the road. But I was moving too fast to stop, so we whipped past.

A while later, we came to other guys setting out comes at other end to block off the section of road. I rolled down window to let them know they can't just block the road all of a sudden in front of a moving vehicle, but they were all from Africa and I don't think they spoke English.

To continue driving, I had to go through this big drop off where they'd cut out a section of the road. Just as I did, a large semi cut me off. I backed up to give it space, just staring up at the side of this huge truck. Even still, it kept moving closer to me. Then I realized that the truck had dropped a tire over the section of the road that had been cut out and it was tipping over. I tried to back up faster, but couldn't get away on time. The truck fell on top of the car. Everyone was holding the roof up so we couldn't get crushed. I turned off car to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning while we waited for help (see how thoughtful I am, even in dreams!?).

March 24:
My brother Tyler and his wife Kyra were getting married in this hotel conference room space, but the room was very small. Before the wedding, we were all scrambling around trying to get it all ready in time. Kyra's dress was a long sleeve 60s style lace/crochet deal. Tyler wore holey jeans.

When Kyra walked down the aisle she kept telling everyone to ring their jingle bells louder. Just then, I realized I had to go to the bathroom and left to do so. By the time I got back, the ceremony was over.

Once everyone left the room to the reception, the next group who had it rented out (a Celtic music group) arrived and began complaining that we were taking too long. We helped move chairs for them and then they were less jerky.

At the reception, we had some delicious food, but as people started to trickle off, the food was left out and another party came into the room. I was trying to clean all the food up but didn't know where to put everything so the other party started eating our food.

Later, I was at a pool party with a really high diving board. Surprisingly, the dream did not end with me jumping off the diving board only to realize the pool was empty. It was actually just an enjoyable pool party.

I was at my high school, Lakeview, visiting one of my favorite teachers, Mr. O. When he hugged me in greeting, he got chocolate and caramel on my shirt from candy bar he'd been eating. Zack and I sat in on a class together, but it was super cramped because the guy next to me wouldn't scoot over to make space for me.

Dream Update: Week 9

March 11:
For the longest time, I dreamed about being at work and putting together code sheets. Yay.

Then I dreamed about driving a big white truck without proper stickers for mean, nasty old guy. I was super nervous because I knew I didn't have the right stickers, but then I couldn't stop the truck at any of the stop signs so that didn't go so well.

Later, I explored an underground gym equipment storage place with Chuck. I discovered a corner that was filled with different puzzles, but I had to leave because it was too interesting and I knew I was going to get sucked in.

Later, I was an adventurer in deep jungle somewhere. I remember trying to pull stitching from a shirt I had with me, but I pulled wrong part and shirt fell apart instead of just the sleeves coming off.

Then I was walking on forest trail with old woman and few others. There were brown and blue eggs all over trail that we had to keep avoid stepping on. From behind us a duck with a million little ducklings ran between our legs and over out feet to get to the lake.

March 12:
A huge tub of gumballs spilled everywhere. My dream was like I was a video camera, rolling in front of them and through them and behind them. It was like a roller coaster. They rolled down streets and bounced off walls. The kids caught some of them in their mouths.

I dream that my parents lived in my old church. My mom was upset that she couldn't find her laundry basket where upon I realized that Zack and I had borrowed it and didn't bring back (sorry, Mom!). Later I was at a youth retreat. I dreamed that my brother Tyler was a baby and he took a nap. Then I was in a play where I went off script to give a speech about why D&D is fun and everyone should play–it was quite impassioned.

March 13:
Dreamed that I had a roommate and that I had decorated room for her birthday with streamers and glow in the dark stars. When she got home and saw it, she got crabby about it and how much work it would be to tear down. I was sad.

I went off to live in a tent by myself and some Northwestern runner girls tried to comfort me. Kyra, my sister-in-law, came to visit and told me she thought that her sister was going to be proposed to at the Christmas moon-watching event at Lake Superior. We went to the event in order to prevent the proposal. Kyra's mom gave me a candle and a lighter, but then the candle went out. I found a cold fireplace with one large log in the middle so I set my candle there where it was protected from the wind so I could try to relight it. The result, somehow, was flame everywhere and I ended up lighting the fire instead of candle. Everyone sad because that fire was not supposed to be lit until the last day of the festival. Apparently, they put log in there "the November prior" which somehow meant over a year, despite the fact that they burn the log just before Christmas each year.

I went down and sat on a rock by the lake and was sad. Tyler came paddling up in my kayak and we talked a bit. He tried to turn and paddle away, but splashed me with water. I told him to stop splashing. He tried to go again, but was still splashing. Then he accidentally hit someone's legs under the water with the paddle and they started bleeding and the paddle broke. He got embarrassed and his car appeared on the water. He loaded kayak into car and drove away.

March 14:
I dreamed that I had been hanging out in downtown Duluth and was trying to take a subway. I rode it once okay, but the second time I tried to get on, I couldn't get all my stuff off before doors closed, leaving them behind on the platform. So, I had to ride end to end while the people I was going to meet up with waited for me. Driver stopped at far end and smoked, so I had to wait for him.

I ended up waiting at mall where I ran into my cousin Jamie. She was there to connect with a witch who was going to tell her future. We went to attic place looking for something for the witch. My aunt Diana and other cousin Stephanie there too, digging through all this junk. Diana was going to steal special rocks from Jamie, but I found them first.

Later, I was on a cooking show talking to Chef Ramsey about how I don't understand chicken and waffles (which is true...I really don't get it). MoMai was competing on show but was considering quitting because everyone was mean to her. I told her, "Are you proud? Don't quit until you're proud."

March 15:
I dreamed a lot about being at work and doing boring work and it was lame.

But later, I was on the show Shark Tank and pitched my product confidently. They all said no. Then they said I talked too loud. I felt tears well in my eyes but refused to let them fall. Laurie from Shark Tank told me I needed to be stronger.

As I left my parents old bedroom (because the TV set suddenly changed into that), the sharks said "Where's Jenna? She needs Jenna."

I went to my mom's old quilt room, which had three doors but I locked them all so I could cry by myself, but then my dad was there sewing a double-decker bullet holder (that's what he called it. I don't know what that means) so I couldn't cry then either. I never got a good cry in.

March 16:
I was rooming with Jenna again, and she and I went to audition for a play at Northwestern. But we arrived separately and when I got to campus there was a confused boy and his mom trying to find MacFaden (which is one of my clients at work...but also apparently a building at Northwestern in my dream). I explained where it was, but he and his mom didn't get it. They were holding up traffic so I jumped in car with them and guided them to the building, which was placed behind Erikson. Then I  asked if they could give me a ride to MaHa so I wouldn't be late for the auditions. They asked, "What's MaHa?" I realized then that it was 7:13 and I was already late for auditions.

When I did arrive (about two minutes before auditions were over), I didn't know the songs, story or script. Afterwards, I was feeling super sick to stomach and went back to dorms where Jenna was eating Subway. I told her I felt sick and that auditions had gone poorly for me. She ended up getting the lead role.

March 17:
I was planning a D&D session where I wanted there to be an effect that, in a certain zone, if you rolled a 1 you would become invisible (but otherwise able to speak and act normally). Zack disagreed. Hunter and Carter, brothers-in-law, were also there along with Natalie and Mason (my niece and nephew) but Natalie was just a baby. I made them laugh by pretending clown nose was stuck on my face.

When I left, I was walking on dark street past these guys who looked like the three Musketeers (like the feathered hats and big gloves and everything) except there were four of them and one of them had a lute. When I was a little bit past them I turned around and one of them threw a sword to me. I missed catching it and it fell to the sidewalk, much to the dismay of the little audience that had gathered around us. We walked a little further and another of the Musketeer guys tosses scimitar to me...which I also missed. I grabbed a bag from one of the other guys. The bag was filled with metal rings which I took out, and crowd got excited for a show, but I said "I actually have no idea what to do with these things" and gave them back.

Later, I found lady with cupcake in small box. She thought I knew how the old "cup cake in the box" trick worked, but I didn't. So she instructed me through it. I put finger in top of box and pulled tab that opened the back of the box which then also pulled cupcake out just slightly so that I could look at it, get a little taste on my finger and then "magically" determine what kind of cupcake it was. The cupcake in her box was something disgusting (vinegar and something). It was a stupid trick, but I had a talking reindeer mascot who was very impressed by it, so there was an upside.

We used my deer's antlers tied to a post to make a tree prop.

Then I was in a group of adventurers being led by Aladdin on walkie-talking through a street and dungeon filled with traps. Going by his memory and our descriptions of where we were and what we were seeing, he'd jump in with a "Wait! No! There's a trap here!" as we're running through trying to escape bad guys and lava and such. As we approached the end, he joined us to cross finish line. As soon as we crossed the finish line and started high fiving, the floor pulled back and we fell into fiery pit where we had to fight the boss monster.

Dream Update: Week 8

March 4:
I was a young black girl, maybe seven or eight years old. My parents bought this old house/mall thin that they were working on renovating room by room. I became myself again. I was in the car driving with Anna and drove to the nursery where we used to be able to drive our car up and down the stairs there. But when we headed that way, there was no road. Ryan showed up to tell us where road was.
My nephew Charlie wore a sweatshirt tied around waist backwards so hood could be filled with cocoa puffs and he walked around the house eating them.

March 5:
My coworker Jochen had many elaborate fruit displays in back kitchen for us at work. He made a duck bill from pieces of pineapple and wore it tied around his face while he cut fruit for everyone. He later made balloon animal hats for everyone in the office and a Rice Krispie Christmas wreath dyed green. He expressed concern that he was going to be seen as just "the person who gives people tasks but not work" and that he'd be fired for it. People at work (Pat, Tara, Joe, Jochen and Katie) kept asking me how I was. I kept responding with "Was this the longest week ever or what?" And none of them agreed, which seemed crazy to me. My desk was where coweorker Joe's desk is, which is where I sat during my first weeks on the job while I was training.

I was in high school and trying to find a college. I came upon this really cool one out in forest that I desperately wanted to attend, but the college's advisors had to travel to see me so I could start there. They ended up coming late so I wasn't able to start on time. When they did arrive, though, they all gathered in my childhood bedroom and everyone sat on my bed to chat. They found an embarrassing note on my bedroom floor (which my mom then insisted on reading aloud) and I was mortified.

Dreamed something about Coffee Lake (that my grandpa's house used to be on) but I don't remember the details.

March 6:
I wasn't supposed to eat anything prior to going into the doctor's office, but I forgot–I had skipped breakfast, but eaten lunch and dinner. I went to the appointment anyway, where the doctor gave me 4 pills, which was too much for me and paralyzed me. The doctor was scary, and I couldn't do anything because I was paralyzed from the pills.

Later I was at my old house and the rest of my family had left already to go somewhere. I was going to meet up with them later. My sister Tawnya called and asked me to find her movie from library to return along with some books I already had to return. I went to her room but couldn't the movie. Instead, I found a Polly Pocket book.

My brother Tyler and I were swimming at the Borchardt's house. There was a hover board platform that he, Luke (his brother-in-law) and I stood on. I thought it would hover a couple feet above water and we could jet around, but Tyler kept going really, really high until it couldn't hover any more because of lack of water pressure. It would stall out and we'd fall back toward the water. At the last minute, the board would catch water pressure again and bounce back up. Eventually we bounced so high and far that we headed off the lake where we narrowly avoiding crashing into an electric fence by slipping between the bars

Then I dream I got body swapped with the mom of this random family, but couldn't tell the family because they'd just think I was insane and send me to some institution. I kept having to come up with reasons avoid kissing the dad, who was also super dumb. I went to the hospital for in vitro, but I didn't want procedure because this guy was so stupid, and also I wasn't his wife.

March 7:
I was living in a future (or not so future...) world run by corrupt government. I was at my old high school and my friend Lauren was killed by the government. Anna, Matt, and I playing cards at lunch. We rebelled by refusing to leave the cafeteria when lunch time was over. We were going to finish out game for Lauren. (It was quite the statement, somehow).

I started sneaking around trying to figure out what happened to her exactly and ended up getting into this really nice autopiloted car. I broke into a fancy office where all the records were held where I teamed up with a crew of adults who were looking into Lauren's death as well, but I was caught by government agents and put on a ship to exile on earth somewhere (because apparently all the rest of this dream had, unbeknownst to me, not occurred on earth to this point).

March 8:
Dreamed I was at Bible camp and went to the upper balcony of the church to escape all the people, but they all came and joined me anyway. In our lessons, the only verses they looked at were about wives serving husbands, so I called them on it. Everyone thought I was overreacting, which was super frustrating. Channing and her boyfriend were going to break up. He told her the only way he'd stay with her was if they had counseling with thee camp people, which I knew was such a bad idea based on the camp's teachings.

Tyler and Kyra got married in the church with confetti flying everywhere and a photographer whose photos were all over exposed and flash-filled. A high school friend Barbara and I played a game with toy dinosaurs, dice with cameras in them and chocolate pudding (no, I don't remember how that particular game worked). Meanwhile, my dad went out to the meadows and forests, and I was jealous.

March 9:

High school friend Ronne was having a class party at her house. I arrived in the morning and I was looking for breakfast. She just said, "In the cupboard." But there are soooo many cupboards in this giant kitchen, and that's not even mentioning the second kitchen upstairs. Eventually I made toast, but I left in my sweatshirt pocket and it got all hard and dried out. We went outside to play badminton, but the trees and branches kept getting in the way.

My mom picked me up to go run some errands with her. I was driving and as we headed out, my mom warned me that the brakes didn't work. I pulled e-brake to slow us down when we had to stop, but we still kept going. Eventually we ended up in the parking lot at a hockey game in Canada at night. We crashed without causing injury. The police didn't believe that the accident was caused by faulty breaks.

My friend Andrea was in music classes, but was tired by them. She said her piano class was only one going well. She played "Go Tell It on the Mountain" while I sang. Some random guy sang along too.

March 10:
I was either living out or just playing d&d throughout the dream–it switched back and forth pretty frequently. Our party (Adam, Zack, Paul and Matt) was in the Sahuagin fortress where we'd just killed a bunch of sahuagin but still had more to go.

We were suddenly joined by a bunch of other players, which made me sad because the group was far too large then to have fun. The other players included some of the cast of critical role (Tiberius for sure) and a few Northwestern people.

One girl kept asking "What's the symbolic significance of the Sahuagin fortress being a tower/cliff like it is?"

And Adam answered every time, "There is significance, but you haven't discovered it yet."

Paul and I decided to head up the side of the fortress while Zack and Matt went another way. Our plan was to meet up somewhere in the middle, but when they didn't catch up to us, I went back and found Zack sitting under a tree, hidden in pine boughs. He told me he'd sprained his ankle and couldn't continue.

Back with the large group, we decided that the table was too big and so split into different groups, which split up or original party and landed people rotating in and out of the game, but no one really getting the full experience. When they weren't playing, people spread out around the house playing other board or video games. I ended up with a bunch of girls I didn't know, which was okay, but not ideal.

I was at a lecture at Northwestern and someone in the audience farted during the speaker's presentation. The whole hall got into a debate about who it was and why people are shy. Zack kept arguing that girls don't fart, so it couldn't have been a girl. At some point I looked around at everyone and said, "Here we are, in a room full of college-educated people, and all you can talk about is farting? Really?"
